Joseph Hoffmann (1870-1956 Austria) was highly influential in the Art Nouveau style period and the development of the modernist movement in the early 20th century. He is best known for his work in the Wiener Werkstätte movement of artists and craftsmen. This pair of barrels form chairs is attributed to Hoffmann and is highly stylized with classic vertical dowel along three sides. Dark stained and lacquered beechwood framing with faux pale blue leather seating. Austria. Sold as a pair.
