George II style tufted leather wingchair

Wingback chairs, originally designed to shield occupants from drafts and capture heat from fireplaces, became popular in England during the late 17th century... and evolved with more elaborate designs by the reign of George III.  This exceptional pair of wingback or library chairs is a 20th century example with deep button-tufting and luxurious high-quality leather with great patina.  Generous proportions with a straight back and out-scrolled wings and arms.  Beautiful nail heads along the front and square mahogany legs.  Sold individually.
