POUL HENNINGSEN,
PH 2/1 Table Lamp, 1920s design, Denmark
PH 2/1 Table Lamp, 1920s design, Denmark
Designed by Poul Henningsen, the PH 2/1 Table Lamp is based on his iconic three-shade system, developed in 1925 to create soft, harmonious, glare-free light. The handblown three-layer white opal glass shades primarily direct light downward while diffusing it evenly, with the shade curves based on a logarithmic spiral to reduce glare and shadows.
Produced by the pioneering Danish manufacturer Louis Poulsen, which helped define modern Scandinavian lighting. The fixture combines opal glass with brass and is part of Louis Poulsen’s longstanding tradition of using light, form, and function to shape interiors.
