LATE 1930S ITALIAN
luxury 48" parchment console with maplewalnut
luxury 48" parchment console with maplewalnut
This is an excellent example of high-style Italian Deco design produced in fine ebanisterie (master cabinetmaker) that supplied luxury apartments in Milan, Turin, Genoa, and Rome just after the war. Likely late 1930s production and constructed as a curved front hall console with multiple wood and materials. The primary case and base use a classic lacquered parchment with three narrow drawers accessed via metal pulls. Side legs in walnut have cut-out detail with maple dowels that relate to the maple trim at top. Burl wood detail to the base balances the various colors and wood grains. Not signed - though likely Milanese workshop.
