John Frederick Kensett - 9" x 14" decoupage tray
Art: Painted in 1857, Hudson River Scene exemplifies John Frederick Kensett’s luminous and contemplative style, marking his transition from the grandeur of early Hudson River School panoramas to the serene precision of Luminism. The composition captures a tranquil stretch of the Hudson River—possibly near West Point or the Catskills—bathed in the soft, diffused light of late afternoon.
John Frederick Kensett (1816–1872) was an American landscape painter associated with the Hudson River School and a leading figure of the Luminist movement. Born in Cheshire, Connecticut, Kensett trained as an engraver before studying and sketching extensively in Europe. After returning to the United States in 1847, he became known for his serene, light-filled depictions of the New England coast, Lake George, and the Hudson River Valley.
John Derian decoupage: is collaged paper under handblown glass in his studio in New York City, where he employs a small staff of artisans to assist with production.
