Frederic Edwin Church - decoupage desk cup
Frederic Edwin Church - decoupage desk cup
Art: Painted in 1857, 'Niagara' is one of Frederic Edwin Church’s most celebrated and ambitious works, a monumental vision of the American sublime that established his reputation as the leading landscape painter of his generation. Measuring over five feet wide, the painting presents a sweeping, panoramic view from the edge of the Horseshoe Falls, looking directly into the thundering cascade.
Frederic Edwin Church (1826–1900) was the most celebrated American artist of the mid-19th century and a leading landscape painter of the Hudson River School, renowned for his monumental, light-filled depictions of natural wonders—from the Andes to the Arctic—that combined scientific observation with Romantic grandeur. A student of Thomas Cole, Church became renowned for his technical mastery and spiritual vision, creating panoramic works that embodied both the majesty of nature and the 19th century’s boundless sense of exploration and discovery.
