Art: Painted in 1838, 'Clouds' is one of Thomas Cole’s most intimate and atmospheric studies, a small plein-air oil study painted near his Catskill home, Clouds reveals Thomas Cole’s fascination with nature’s fleeting beauty and spiritual depth.
Thomas Cole (1801-1848) was an English-born American painter and a founding figure of the Hudson River School, whose visionary landscapes helped define the spiritual and moral identity of 19th-century American art. Blending Romanticism with allegory, he expressed both awe for the sublime power of nature and concern over the destructive consequences of industrial progress.
John Derian decoupage: is collaged paper under handblown glass in his studio in New York City, where he employs a small staff of artisans to assist with production.
