Pioneering architect Carl Westman (1866–1936) was a leading proponent of the National Romantic style, which fused traditional Nordic elements with the ideals of the English Arts and Crafts movement. This pair of side chairs has simple yet refined craftsmanship with solid birchwood frames. Tall backs with three distinct slats each displaying a hand-carved romantic leaf and vine motif. New upholstery. Sweden, c1915.
