1950S BRUNO MATHSSON
set six Model 401 oak & canvas dining chairs
set six Model 401 oak & canvas dining chairs
Bruno Mathsson (1907–1988) was one of Sweden’s most important modernist designers, known for redefining comfort through a deeply empirical approach to seating. This dining chair is more refined than his later work with a delicately sculpted solid oakwood frame supporting canvas seating. Appears to be original canvas (rare) and is mounted through sides of the seat and back with an additional perfectly fitting canvas pad. Manufactured by Karl Mathsson workshop (Värnamo), Sweden. Note - the canvas is currently being cleaned - additional images to follow.
