Award winning Domenico Matteucci (1914–1991) was not principally an Italian factory ceramist; he was a sculptor who worked in ceramics, as well as a painter and draftsman. This Neoclassical sculpture of female head is created in natural terracotta with a white over glaze that allows the clay color to show through. Produced at his own studio in Faenza, Italy, circa 1950–55.
