Kohlmann (1903-1988) was one of the most accomplished French interior designers of the Art Deco era. Educated at the prestigious École Boulle in Paris, he trained as a cabinetmaker before joining the Studium department of the Grands Magasins du Louvre, where he eventually became artistic director. This is set of six solid carved poakwood dining chairs c1935-1940 attributed to Kohlmann are defined by the deeply carved concentric medallion backrest over square form base. Red leatherette seating with nice patina. France. Sold as a set.
