stitched leather "safari" lounge chair, Columbia
stitched leather "safari" lounge chair, Columbia
Werner Biermann was German-born, but emigrated to Colombia in the 1930s, where he established Arte Sano ("Handmade"), a furniture company that blended European modernism with local craftsmanship - embracing Columbian hardwoods and traditional leather techniques. His low-slung safari chair is a perfect example of his work. Beautiful white walnut frame covered in saddle leather connected with contrasting hand-stitched thin leather straps. Produced by Arte Sano, Bogotá, Colombia, circa 1970. Sold individually, pair available.
