LATE 1940S VIENNESE
sculpted beech armchair w/spindle back, Kvadrat
sculpted beech armchair w/spindle back, Kvadrat
A very classic mid-century armchair interpreted by many well known designers of the day - the FD 146 by Danish team Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard Nielsen, Italian Paolo Buffa created several examples and Swedish Otto Schulz example from 1930s steals the show. This example follows a Viennese tradition balancing classic designs with modern architectural restraint. Beautifully sculpted arms and spindle back is graceful in appearance. Probably solid beechwood - but could be a pear wood that was often used by Viennese workshops. Newer Kvadrat seating.
