1955 BØRGE MOGENSEN
oak and teak Øresund 79" sideboard, Sweden
oak and teak Øresund 79" sideboard, Sweden
Børge Mogensen (1914–1972) was a central figure in Danish Modernism, developing furniture around everyday use, functional simplicity and the belief that well-designed pieces should be accessible to a broad public. His design work for Swedish manufacturer Karl Andersson & Söner retained his restrained visual with an oakwood case and contrasting teakwood facing series of cabinets and drawers - recessed and button pulls. Behind the sliding doors, a bank of seven shallow pull-out trays introduces a striking contrast to the restrained exterior - finished in graduated shades of orange and yellow. 1955 design - later production, Sweden.
