woven rush chaise provençale rustique armchair
Excellent example of rustic French regional furniture, likely from the Southwest or Provence, dating from the 1940s–1950s but echoing much older vernacular styles. It has a turned chestnut frame with a dark stain supporting a handwoven rush seating in a checker pattern typical of 19th century rural furniture. Back can fold down to the seat. Artisanal French production. Pair available.
