1970S JACQUES CHARPENTIE
pair of orange velvet low-slung slipper chairs
pair of orange velvet low-slung slipper chairs
Jacques Charpentier is a fascinating designer because he's not widely published, yet among collectors of French 1970s design he has become something of a cult figure. He produced furniture that was simultaneously architectural, low-slung, and highly sculptural. This pair of lounge chairs has very low seating and simple geometric volumes with a gorgeous original orange velvet upholstery. Two loose upholstered cushions sit on an upholstered base over a recessed metal/wood plinth base. France c1975. Sold as a pair.
