LATE 1940S ITALIAN
curved Rationalist center desk in walnut and walnut burl
curved Rationalist center desk in walnut and walnut burl
A wonderful example of Italian Rationalist design where functional clarity and geometry replaced ornamentation and excess decoration. This center desk from the late 1930s to early 1940s is meant to float in a room and constructed in light (sun faded) walnut. A curved side with four drawers and round wood pulls. Three narrow top drawers and entire opposite side of the desk are faced in a beautiful contrasting walnut briar (radica di noce). Includes a cut-out in the back for display. Unique Italian luxury.
