19THC KARL JOHAN STYLE
neoclassical revival 51" upholstered settee
neoclassical revival 51" upholstered settee
This 19th-century settee, in the Karl Johan style (the Swedish interpretation of Empire design), reflects the restrained neoclassicism popular in Sweden between about 1810 and 1840, adapted here with a more provincial, late-century execution. Distinctive rounded armrests referencing the scrolls of Empire designs contrast with the blocky legs. Carved birch with an open pinewood back and striped upholstery. In need of new fabric and a back bolster.
Priced as is.
