set three 86" carved elmwood panels, Czech
set three 86" carved elmwood panels, Czech
Originally installed in the cocktail bar and lounge of the newly opened Inter-Continental Praha Hotel (Czech Republic) in 1974, these sculptural wall panels were created by—or under the direction of—Miloslav Hejný (1925–2013). Hejný designed a series of hand-carved works in Bulgarian elmwood, notable for their golden tone and flowing, organic forms.
The three smaller panels for the bar area relate closely to Hejný’s celebrated Enchanted Forest series—nine monumental panels, each approximately three meters tall, originally installed as sculptural reliefs in the hotel’s entrance hall. Several of Hejný’s surviving works remain in place today at the hotel, now renamed the Fairmont Golden Prague.
Sold as a set of three.
Total width of three : 117".
