'Diana' safari chair in new bouclé, Sweden
Brought in as the first female designer in the early 70s by IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad to create functional modernist pieces as part of the company's expansion into Europe for the first time. Designed to be flat packed for easy transport and assembly. The lacquered solid-wood frame is accented by new cream bouclé upholstery wrapped around the seat back and connected to the base with leather buckled straps. Model "Diana" for IKEA Sweden, 1970s.
