1970S GIOVANNI BATTISTA BASSI
six red "Elisa" dining chairs, Poltronova
six red "Elisa" dining chairs, Poltronova
Giovanni Battista Bassi was an Italian architect and designer in the 1970s associated with the wave of experimental Italian modernism. His association with the Florence based Poltronova yielded a strong avant-garde Italian design aesthetic. The "Elise" dining chair embraced bold forms, saturated colors, and sculptural furniture that blurred the line between function and art. Laminated and bent plywood frame, finished in high-gloss red lacquer and a distinctive wraparound curved backrest and arm support. Black padded skai leather seating. 1970s manufactured by Poltronova, Italy.
