Model GE40 leather lounge chair, Getama
One of the leading lights of the Scandinavian Modernist movement, shoemakers's son Hans Jørgensen Wegner (1914-2007) worked initially for architects on the Aarhus City Hall design project in 1938. He went on to an illustrious career in modernist design creating pieces that are often described as "functional art". This lounge chair was created with a solid oakwood square frame that supports fitted leather cushions including arms that wrap around the side. Beautifully designed angled back. Produced by Getama as Model GE40 starting in the 1960s, Denmark. Chair will receive a full conditioning and replacement of lower support straps. Two available.
