An unusual find in France that could be 1940s or 1950s with a very organic provincial viewpoint. Dark-stained slightly tapered legs have squared joinery with a central "I" dowel stretcher for support. Seat with a classic envelope weave in corded jute in very good condition. Unique backrest with horizontal bindings attached at top and bottom with a central design element that suggests a regional artisan workshop. Basque or Catalan design cannot be ruled out.
