beechwood model J16 rocking chair, FDB Møbler
Hans J. Wegner (1914–2007), often called the "Master of the Chair" for his prolific output of modernist Danish seating - wanted to create modern, affordable, and functional furniture for the Danish middle class. The J16 was one of the flagship pieces in this program — a modern take on the traditional Windsor rocker. Solid black lacquered beechwood construction with high/curved spindle back and gently curved crest rail. Woven paperboard seating. Originally produced by FDB Møbler - with later production by Fredericia Furniture, Denmark.
