Jan Vaněk (1891–1962) was a pioneering designer, architect, and entrepreneur who played a significant role in shaping modern furniture design in Czechoslovakia during the early to mid-20th century. He used bentwood framing and preferred sculpted forms and comfort. This pair of armchairs is attributed to Vanek with classic architectural single arms-to-legs design. Nicely curved setback and newly upholstered in a charcoal grey wool. 1940s, Czech.
