1940S FRITZ HANSEN
32" blond leather & mahogany bench
32" blond leather & mahogany bench
One of the leading lights of the Scandinavian modernist movement. Though starting in the late 19th century Copenhagen - the company Fritz Hansen became an early proponent of industrial scale manufacturing - with an early success in bentwood techniques. The company transformed in the 1950s with its collaboration with Arne Jacobsen. This refined bench shows classic modernist restraint with an unadorned blond leather seat over a lightly stained mahogany square-form frame. Upper stretcher for support. Exceptional. Fritz Hansen design, late 1940s.
