1940S DANISH
low armchair with curved spindle back & boucle'
low armchair with curved spindle back & boucle'
This 1940s Danish lounge chair borrows several structural and stylistic cues from traditional English furniture, especially Windsor and stick-back chairs, and reinterprets them in a modern Scandinavian way. The appearance of continuous hoop back frame (in this case, beechwood) and delicate spindles follow the classic Windsor chair with gentle ergonomic curved arms, showing a Scandinavian softening of the English original. Low seating with two newly upholstered seat cushions in a white boucle. Small scale master craftsman production, Denmark.
