The Model 406 armchair was designed in 1939 by Alvar Aalto (1898-1976) and stands as one of his most refined expressions of human-centered modernism, balancing industrial technique with warmth, tactility, and ergonomic intelligence. Constructed in laminated Finnish birch and steam-bent into continuous runners that form legs and arms. Covered in woven cotton webbing, tensioned to cradle the body. Later production, two available. Produced by his firm he founded in 1935, Artek in southwestern Finland.
