1933 KAARE KLINT
solid ashwood & leather safari stool, Rud. Rasmussen
solid ashwood & leather safari stool, Rud. Rasmussen
Kaare Klint (1888–1954), trained as an architect and head of the Furniture School at the Royal Danish Academy - is considered the father of modern Danish furniture design. His "safari" series was designed in the mid 1930s initially for his own use - with the intention to reinterpret the traditional campaign chair: a piece that was light, demountable, comfortable, and honest in construction. This stool from that series in solid ashwood and brown leather with visible joinery and leather strapping. Produced by legendary Danish cabinetmaker Rud. Rasmussen. Later production.
