1930S SVEN MARKELIUS
tubular chrome & leather "Epa" side chair
tubular chrome & leather "Epa" side chair
One of Sweden’s most important early modernist tubular-steel designs from the mid 1930s by Sven Markelius (1889-1972) - a strong proponent of modern, affordable and industrial furniture. This cantilevered chair design has a continuous U-frame base that provides spring action and a circular padded back with a crescent-shaped cutout for easy lifting and moving. Beautiful cognac leather to the seat and back in very good condition. Model "Epa" produced by DS Staal-Stel, Denmark - sold through Sweden's EPA Department store.
