The English Restoration period of furniture design began with the reign of Charles II with and the strong French influence of the French Court of Louis XIV. This pair of all original backstools from the late 17th century in all original condition. Full brass studded leather upholstery for the entire upper chair with terrific patina (and horsehair padding). Base is dark-stained solid oakwood with alternating block and bobbin turned legs/stretcher. England c1685. Sold as a pair.
