C1940 CHARLES DUDOUYT
rare concentric-ring carved oak 5-piece salon set
rare concentric-ring carved oak 5-piece salon set
French designer Charles Dudouyt (1885–1946) brought a distinctly modern sensibility to traditional French furniture, transforming robust oak construction and rural forms through bold proportions and sculptural geometric carving. This rare three piece sofa in richly stained solid oakwood has Dudouyt's characteristic use of deeply carved concentric-ring supports, geometric block joints, turned stretchers and sculptural feet. The back is open to highlight the upholstery - in this case a beautiful golden yellow buttoned damask in very god condition. Produced at his La Gentilhommière workshop in in the Butte-aux-Cailles section of Paris. France c1940. Inquire about dims and details.
