PAIR 1930 CZECH
burl walnut continuous arm club chairs, Prague
burl walnut continuous arm club chairs, Prague
A wonderful pair of sculptural Czech Art Deco club chairs, Czechoslovakia, circa 1935 - a period with strong Austrian influences. Executed in richly figured walnut burl veneer over bent laminated frames, the sweeping continuous arms highlights the expressive craftsmanship of the interwar Czech modern movement. Closely related to the work of Jindřich Halabala and UP Závody, yet representing a far less commonly encountered model. Likely Prague production.
