Such beautiful detail to this exceptional pair of side tables by the Italian craftsman Guglielmo Pecorini. His pieces are rare and highly coveted for their sculptural forms and sense of whimsy. The square cases are constructed in a cerused wood (probably walnut) with one cabinet below and one small drawer above. The legs are in a lacquered cherry that are carefully carved and cross over each other to form the base. Carved button-pulls match the contrasting trim around the front doors. Partial top trim on two sides place this as left and right to the bed.... Italy, 1950s.
