French artist and furniture designer Charles Dudouyt (1885-1946) attended l’École Germain Pilon in Paris before creating his own firm near Paris. His nod to Arts & Crafts with added playful geometries and rustic materials modernized the French rustic style. These chairs in solid oakwood with turned quarter sewn elements. Seating is corded and woven hemp that is darkened to complement the dark-stained chair. France, 1940s.
