Art student André Sornay (1902-2000) went on to create sumptuous modernist furniture - yet also designed accessible pieces that could be more easily assembled. This solid beechwood armchair fall in the latter category with simple square form framing, visible box joints and carefully placed screws. Recently updated to match original wool upholstery including a shaped seat back that floats above the seat. France, 1960s.
