Architect Hugo George (1883-1934) played an important role in the Werkbund housing projects in Germany and Austria in the 1920s and 1930s. His designs expressed classic shapes with an Art Deco flair. This pair of striking chairs is constructed in solid beechwood with square seat frames and a lower stretcher. A set of three helix-form carved wood ribbons form the back.
