This is an early Jens Risom (1916-2016) chair from the late 1930s - probably during the period that he worked in the design department of Nordiska Kompaniet. An early modernist armchair in solid birchwood with an angled seat and low spindle back. Two loose cushion are recently upholstered in a light gray wool. Matching footstool not original to the design. This armchair has a later incarnation after Risom emigrated to the US that is fully upholstered. Produced by Københavns Snedkerlaugs Møbel in Denmark in 1937. Recently depicted by Lowry Vicky in his Phaidon Press publication "Jens Risom, a seat at the table" from 2022.
