KAARE KLINT 1930S DESIGN
safari chair + ottoman, Rud. Rasmussen
safari chair + ottoman, Rud. Rasmussen
Drawing from his admiration of British campaign furniture from the late 19th century - Kaare Klint's (1888-1954) original inspiration was the Roorkhee chair from the Indian and African campaigns that were lightweight, sturdy, and portable. His safari chair design from 1933 maintained these principals. Made in solid ashwood with peg and dowel construction. Light canvas seating and leather strap arms. A landmark in modern design. This chair and ottoman are later manufacture by Rud. Rasmussen, Denmark - and still in production today.
