C1940 SPANISH FRIAR CHAIR
in oakwood & saddle leather with brass
in oakwood & saddle leather with brass
Sitting low to the ground - this square-form armchair was crafted in Spain in the 1930/40s following the classic Friar chair design from 16th century. Initially designed for Italian and Spanish convents where a straight sober posture was required. This version in solid oakwood and saddle leather with typical domed brass studs along the seat frame and back. Wonderful patina.
