1960S MARCO ZANUSO
model "Woodline" sofa, Arflex, Milan
model "Woodline" sofa, Arflex, Milan
A classic bentwood design for this 2-seat sofa by the muli-talented Marco Zanuso (1916-2001) whose career spanned architect, furniture design, urban planning, academics and most famously industrial design. This began as a chair entered in a 1949 design competition organized by MOMA - and finally made it to production by the innovative Milanese firm Arflex starting in 1964. Bentwood framing that supports a pair of padded leather cushions that fold over the top. Gorgeous leather patina. The chair version was relaunched by Cassina in 2015. This sofa is an original Arflex piece from the 1960s.
