Press Release

..the official press release.
Hudson, New York—This spring, home goods connoisseurs in Hudson, New York are flocking to a vivid new destination: FINCH, located at 613 Warren Street, Hudson, New York(518-828-3430). From one-of-a-kind Parisian antiques and handcrafted pieces by local artisans to high-end bath and body products and cutting-edge artwork FINCH displays a tasteful mix—modern and vintage, approachable and exceptional—within a chic space.
The FINCH motto is “life curated,” and proprietors Andrew Arrick and Michael Hofemann encourage customers to blend different styles as a means of self-expression. Never appearing “propped,” the store’s vignettes conjure experimental eclecticism, an ethos favored by Andrew and Michael. “We want people to feel that they can spend twenty-five dollars on a great item like a scented candle or found object, or $5,000 on a great piece of furniture,” says Arrick. “It’s not just an antique store. It truly is a unique experience in Hudson.”
Store visitors can expect an evolving selection of vintage pieces from a cross-section of origins and eras, outdoor elements in a dedicated garden area, standalone furniture from contemporary craftsmen, unique goods from Manhattan and Brooklyn artisans such as John Derian and Coral and Tusk, and a stimulating mix of art (think: a repurposed apothecary cabinet housing grooming products, above which hangs a shimmering 4×4 abstract acrylic painting, flanked by 18th Century botanical prints). Bath and body shoppers will find Aesop—a brand that shares aesthetic and development philosophies with Finch—as well as natural skincare Ursa Major, Jao Brand balms from Brooklyn, mineral-rich Goe Oil, and candles from the likes of Patch NYC and Astier de Villatte.
Arrick and Hofemann left their New York City lives in 2012, selling their Brooklyn loft (once featured in Elle Décor) in favor of bucolic, artistic Hudson Valley. They’ve dedicated countless hours to FINCH’s development, acquiring exquisite antiques, deepening relationships with artists and craftspeople, and sourcing resonant items from ethical small businesses. FINCH transcends the conventional shopping experience, exemplifying all facets of a lifestyle built on inclusive style. “This balance between the old and the new is how we live,” insists Hofemann. “Andrew and I built the store around what we like and respond to.”
A veteran of top fashion companies such as Vera Wang, Yves Saint-Laurent, and Carolina Herrera, Arrick’s discerning style brings modernity and form-consciousness to all aspects of the environment. Hofemann spent the last ten years as COO of a top marketing company, and his sensitivity to the needs of customers allows for a seamless, client-friendly operation. “I lived in New York City for more than twenty years—and really loved every bit of its craziness, despite working ten-to-twelve hours a day for someone else,” says Hofemann. “It’s time to spend more time in my garden and build a meaningful business of our own.”
The store’s website,, offers web-surfers a window into Arrick and Hofemann’s aesthetic and inspiration. They highlight artists and craftspeople whose work is showcased in-store and chronicle different aspects of “the FINCH life” via their blog. FINCH will have a strong presence on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and other social media outlets. “We are excited to translate what we do at the store into written form,” says Hofemann.
FINCH is a vital addition to the Hudson retail world—an extension of Andrew and Michael’s inspiring life. Soulful surroundings, generosity of spirit, and beautiful objects with personal meaning… life curated.
